Effects of Exogenous Gibberellic Acid in Huanglongbing-affected Sweet Orange Trees under Florida Conditions—II. Fruit Production and Tree Health

چکیده

Fruit production of sweet orange ( Citrus sinensis ) in Florida has been declining with the presence Huanglongbing [HLB; Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas)] disease. Through disruption balance endogenous hormone levels, disease negative impacts on fruit development, mature retention, and overall tree health. Thus, goal this research was to determine whether plant growth regulator gibberellic acid (GA 3 can be used improve issues caused by HLB. For ‘Valencia’ orange, although foliar applied GA from September January (33 mg·L −1 for five applications) resulted 50% decrease bloom following spring (results presented Tang et al., 2021), treatment did not cause reduction yield current subsequent crops. Moreover, a 30% average increase -treated trees observed over period 4 years. The size also increased (by 4% 5%) reduced drop rate near harvest compared nontreated control trees. Furthermore, canopy density, an indicator HLB severity, maintained (from 90.8% light interception 90.4%). In contrast, there substantial density 91.6% 84.0%). Gene expression analysis abscission zone leaves indicated that had enhanced oxidative stress mitigation mechanism defense response. Given is no cure HLB, these results possible remedy using sustaining health field-grown affected

‘valencia’ Sweet Orange Tree Flowering Evaluation under Field Conditions

Since citrus flowering is a key process in citriculture and its evaluation is often difficult due to the canopy structure and field sampling, the aim of this research was to give some directions regarding the evaluation of flowering in field-grown sweet orange plants. This study was conducted in a citrus orchard of sweet orange plants cv. ‘Valencia’ [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck] grafted on ‘Cle...

Whole-Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus” from a Huanglongbing-Affected Citrus Tree in Central Florida

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of "Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus" strain FL17, isolated from a huanglongbing (HLB)-affected citrus tree in central Florida. The FL17 genome comprised 1,227,253 bp, with a G+C content of 36.5%, 1,175 predicted open reading frames, and 53 RNA genes.

Effect of gibberellic acid on fruit cracking and quality of Bing and Sam sweet cherries

Cline, J. A. and Trought, M. 2007. Effect of gibberellic acid on fruit cracking and quality of Bing and Sam sweet cherries. Can. J. Plant Sci. 87: 545–550. Rain-induced cracking of sweet cherries (Prunus avium L.) is a major problem in many cherry growing regions throughout the world. One method to reduce cracking is to grow cracking resistant cultivars; however, no completely effective control...

Effects and side effects of penicillin injection in huanglongbing affected grapefruit trees

Trunk injection with penicillin has been tested to control citrus huanglongbing (HLB), but side effects and environmental safety must be assured before approval of penicillin injection can be considered. We investigated effects of penicillin injection on densities of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Las) in leaves, as well as culturable bacterial populations in rhizospheres and petioles of gr...
